What's New
( The L&PS Route Blog! )
Jan 3, 2007 - I've converted some of my vehicle models to work in MSTS. You can download the MSTS versions here
Oct 13, 2007 - While I wait for the new sims to arrive and sort themselves out I have been busy with modeling some favourite classic cars of time gone by. You can follow along here.

July 21, 2007 - I've been working on a 1932 Dodge, and used a
neat technique to get reflections in the chrome and paint. See
more about it here
July 15, 2007 - John Fleming just sent me this interesting CGW
boxcar here. Most of his projects
turn up in the train-sim library so keep an eye out for it.

Dec 16, 2006 - Work on CN 7130 continues. See progress here
Dec 2, 2006 - I am still on a steam kick. See here
for some photos of CN7130 operating on the L&PS. BTW, if you
have tried to run steam on the L&PS, you probably noticed an
unrealistic bug where the overhead catenary would deflect the
smoke and trap it under the wires. I have a fix for that now. If
you have run into this, drop me a line and I'll send you the
files.
Nov 26, 2006 - We've moved a lot of freight on the L&PS over
the last few months. With the Callboard program generating
activities, there's a new and interesting series of challenges
every day. Between shifts, I have managed a few construction
projects. I've built about forty different 1920's vintage boxcars
to add variety to the roster. They're not high detail
masterpieces - just simple work-a-day cars that are low on poly's
for good frame rates, even in a full yard. Most of the cars carry
Canadian road names, but there are a few north-east US lines
represented as well. And if you haven't discovered John Fleming's
early 1900's boxcars you are really missing out. Its always a
treat when one of his colorful reefers turns up at an
interchange. For a little variety I have been having fun running
a little steam as well. I like Dick Cowen's little 0-6-0
switcher. Its on my workbench now undergoing a rebuild to
represent CN 7130, a light-weight 0-6-0 switcher that was
occasionally seen on the L&PS. I've also got No12 and 14 on
the workbench. Rob Sterne recently provided access to No 14 at
the ECRM so I could take some photo textures and measurements.
I'm hoping to be running them in a couple of months.
Sep 30, 2006 - I have been running the new version 1.6 of the
MSTS Patch from the BIN website here. The big news is
the front coupler bugs seem to be fixed. I've been shifting cars
around with the front coupler for a couple of days now and no
sign of the dreaded lockup.
Aug 11, 2006 - I highly recommend the double cab fix from the
MSTS BIN website. I do a lot of switching and its great to be
able to drive from the rear cab while still having full access to
the gauges and controls.
Aug 7, 2006 - Tom Galbardi has released a replacement terrain
texture that works really well. See some pics here.
Look for bpmicrtx.zip in the train-sim library and drop it into
the TERRTEX directory in the LPS route folder according to Tom's
instructions.
July 25, 2006 - I have been working on a program that creates
activities for the route. I named it L&PS Callboard and wrote
it for serious operators who enjoy running the L&PS route in
a prototype manner. You can pick out the loco you want to run and
the type of activity - passenger, local, express, freight, way
freight, switching etc - and it generates an activity, placing
appropriate rolling stock from your trainset folder and providing
switching work orders etc for you to follow. Every time you run
the route, you will have a new activity. Its in an early beta
stage. Drop me a line if you are interested in checking it out.
July 16, 2006 - I've been busy the last few months with
developing realistic operations for the L&PS.
